MYSTERY WOMEN'S GROUP Page 2

Monday 04 Jul, 2016

I have a mystery album of photos made by an older woman (40s?) who traveled to Okinawa from 1 Nov 1946 to 7 May 1947 with a group of other women (4-6). No indication as to what they were doing on Okinawa and why. No apparent uniforms, all the notes in the album gave no indication as to why they were on Okinawa. Traveled on US Army transport ships. Stayed in the Rycom Women's Billets. Spent a lot of time at Yonabaru Naval Air Station (most often with the Chiefs) based on the notes on photos. They did not appear to be dependents, nurses, Red Cross, or DOD civilians based on the photos in the album, but I do not know. Most of the photos were tourist type photos. This was a little too early after the war to just be traveling to Okinawa for fun but I have no real clue as to what they were doing there.

Possible album owners name - M. Cloughley

Other names in the album - Helen Carlson, Ray Cook (female), Dawn Dillon, Mildred Sayer, Peggie Strickland, Helen Polis
