MILITARY CLUB MATCHBOOK COVERS
OKINAWA

Matchbook covers from military clubs and military related organizations on Okinawa, generally from the late 1950's to the 1960's. Kadena Airmen's Club had a series of matchbook covers that featured the pin up girls of George Brown Petty (1894 - 1975) an artist whose pin up girls appeared in Esquire and True magazine. His "Petty Girls" also were used as nose art on aircraft during WWII including the Memphis Belle. There is one non-club matchbook cover that is signed and dated "Okinawa 1949" and is a reminder to watch out for social diseases.
